For the first time in history, the ultimate in transportation is in sight. By the early 1980's travellers may zoom from the US to any point in the world in less than 45 minutes. Man simply can't travel any faster. Speeds higher than this would … hurl passengers and their craft into orbit. Exotic as it may seem, a preliminary design for such a craft has already been drawn up by Douglas Aircraft Company engineers. The Pegasus is a rocket transport capable of whisking 170 passengers, their baggage, and 18 tons of cargo high above the atmosphere from continent to continent at 17,000 miles per hour. Douglas engineers believe it could start coming off the assembly lines and into commercial service in 15 to 20 years . . .
