Historical Essay © Andreas Parsch Boeing CEM-138 Pave Cricket In 1987, the U.S. Air Force began flight-testing the YCEM-138A Pave Cricket ECM mini-drone. The air vehicle was a YCQM-121A Pave Tiger drone equipped with a version of the AN/ALQ-176 radar jamming system. The YCEM-138A was designed to disrupt the acquisition radars of enemy air-defense systems, but the Pave Cricket program was cancelled in the 1988/89 time frame.
