Bachelor of arts in mechanical sciences from St. Catharine's College in Cambridge, 1965 . Master of arts in mechanical sciences from University Officers Training Corps in Cambridge, 1969. British Army. Commanded 9 Signals Regiment in Cyprus from February 1981 to September 1983. Selected as prime crew for the British Skynet Program, but replaced by backup Major Richard Farrimond when Boyle became involved as a witness in an espionage case. Later worked for the British Office of Defence.
