Russian scientist cosmonaut, 1967-1974.

Status: Deceased; Active 1967-1974. Born: 1928-01-21. Died: 1998-02-15. Birth Place: Moscow.

Engineering diploma in aircraft engineering from Moscow Aviation Institute, 1953. In all his documents his birth was dated with July 21, 1928. Civilian Scientist, from Academy of Sciences. Cosmonaut training May 1967 - August 1968. Trained for the Soviet Lunar Landing Program. Dismissed from cosmonaut training by TsPK Director Beregovoi when Yershov refused to become a member of the Communist Party. Senior Scientist, Institute of Applied Mathematics, Moscow. In 1982 he retired. Died in Moscow, Russian Federation.
