Personal: Male. Born in Kidderminster, UK. British Army Bachelor of arts in mechanical sciences from St. Catharine's College in Cambridge, 1965 . Master of arts in mechanical sciences from University Officers Training Corps in Cambridge, 1969. British Army Commanded 9 Signals Regiment in Cyprus from February 1981 to September 1983. Astronaut Career Astronaut Group: Payload Specialist. Inactive Entered space service: 25 February 1984. Left space service: July 1984. Selected as prime crew for the British Skynet Program, but replaced by backup Major Richard Farrimond when Boyle became involved as a witness in an espionage case. Later worked for the British Office of Defence.
