Master of science in electrical engineering from USAF Institute of Technology, 1982. US Air Force Astronaut Career Astronaut Group: DoD Group 3 - 1985. Inactive Entered space service: September 1985. Left space service: July 1988. Unsuccessful application for NASA astronaut group 10. In July 1988 resigned from astronaut corps. Later head of Space Missile Systems Center , Los Angeles AFB.
Carretto Chronology 1 September 1985 - DoD Astronaut Training Group 3 selected.. The group was selected to provide shuttle manned spaceflight engineers to operate military payloads.. Qualifications: USAF officers with bachelor's degree in science or engineering; four years experience in flying or space-related activities. Vision minimum 20/150 uncorrected, correctable to 20/20.
