Burton I. Edelson was Associate Administrator for Space Science and Applications between 1982 and 1988. He earned his B.S. from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1947, and served for 20 years in the service. He then returned to school and received a Ph.D. from the University of California at San Diego in 1969. Thereafter he worked with the Communications Satellite Corporation for 14 years before coming to NASA.
