Astronaut Career Astronaut Group: Voskhod Physician Group - 1965. Inactive Entered space service: September 1965. Left space service: 1966. Trained for cancelled Voskhod long duration mission. Involved in several experiments on various Soyuz missions. From 1967 - 1968, member of a Soviet Antarctic Expedition. Later Deputy Director of IMBP, Moscow. Illyin Chronology 1 June 1965 - Voskhod Physician Cosmonaut Training Group selected.. The group was selected to provide trainees for planned Voskhod long-duration biomedical spaceflights to be made with a physician aboard.
