Polish Air Force Graduated from General Staff Academy "Karol Swierczewski", 1969 Polish Air Force. Fighter pilot, Polish Air Force. Astronaut Career Astronaut Group: Intercosmos Group - 1976. Inactive Entered space service: 25 November 1976. Left space service: 5 July 1978. Commander, Deblin Air Force School. Later retired from all duties. Jankowski Chronology 25 November 1976 - Intercosmos Cosmonaut Training Group selected.. Training group of potential 'guest cosmonauts' for propaganda flights to the Salyut space station. The 'guests', from states allied to the Soviet Union, would be flown on Soyuz lifeboat changeout missions to the station. 27 June 1978 - Soyuz 30. Assignment: Backup Crew. Flight: Salyut 6 EP-3, Salyut 6 EO-2. Manned two crew. Docked with Salyut 6. Placed on board the Salyut-6 station, under the Intercosmos programme, a second, international, crew consisting of P.I. Klimuk (USSR) and M. Hermaszewski (Poland) to conduct scientific investigations and experiments.
