Astronaut Career

Astronaut Group: Journalist Group - 1965. Deceased Entered space service: 27 July 1965. Left space service: 1966. Selected in June 1965 for a Voskhod journalist flight, but did not go into official cosmonaut training.

Worked as a news reporter for Soviet television. He retired after a first heart attack in 1978 and worked as a writer.


Letunov Chronology

1 January 1965 - Journalist Cosmonaut Training Group selected.. The group was selected to provide trainees for a planned Voskhod spaceflight made with a journalist aboard.


30 July 1983 - Cosmonaut Yuri Aleksandrovich Letunov dies at age of 56 -- Natural causes..
