Astronaut Career Astronaut Group: Journalist Group - 1965. Deceased Entered space service: June 1965. Left space service: 1974. Selected in June 1965 for a Voskhod journalist flight, but did not go into official cosmonaut training. Claimed later to have some involvement with the Soviet lunar landing program from 1965 to 1970. Free lance writer. Applied for cosmonaut corps again in 1989, but was rejected due to his age. Rebrov Chronology 1 January 1965 - Journalist Cosmonaut Training Group selected.. The group was selected to provide trainees for a planned Voskhod spaceflight made with a journalist aboard. 24 April 1998 - Cosmonaut Mikhail Fedorovich Rebrov dies at age of 66 -- Natural causes..
