Bachelor of arts from Cottey College, Nevada, Missouri, 1973; Bachelor of science in meteorology from Texas A&M University, 1975; master of science and Ph.D. in meteorology from St.Louis University, 1981 and 1984, respectively; Major, USAF, Ret.; USAF Air Weather Service Officer until her resign from active duty.

Birth Place: Red Oak, Iowa.
