Wood, Robert Jackson (1957-2009) American physicist payload specialist astronaut, 1985-1986.

Bachelor of science in physics from Honors Tutorial College, University of Ohio, 1978. Master of science in physics from MIT, 1980. McDonnell-Douglas engineer. Commercial Payload Specialist Selection 1 on June 26, 1983. Unsuccessful application for NASA astronaut group 13. Systems engineer on the Joint Direct Attack Munitions program. Killed when rear-ended by drunken driver.

Birth Place: Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
Status: Deceased.
