  • Flight of Goddard A series rocket Nation: USA. Apogee: 2.00 km (1.20 mi). Rocket had strainers and thicker air vanes; duration of propulsion, 14 sec; altitude 6600 ft with excellent correction up to 3000 ft; parachute torn off. References: 482.

  • Tsien Hsue-shen leaves China to study at MIT. Nation: China. Program: Long March. Tsien Hsue-shen, father of Chinese rocketry and spaceflight, leaves China on a Boxer Rebellion Scholarship to study at MIT. References: 31.
