  • 1999 October 14 - SACI 1 - Launch Site: Taiyuan. Launch Vehicle: CZ. Perigee: 733 km (455 mi). Apogee: 744 km (462 mi). Inclination: 98.60 deg.

    INPE experimental scientific satellite with a magnetometer, particle detectors and an atmospheric experiment. INPE reportedly lost contact with the satellite in mid-October.

  • 1999 December 11 - SACI-2 - Launch Site: Alcantara. Launch Vehicle: VLS. FAILURE: Second stage failed to ignite; destroyed by range safety. Mass: 80 kg (176 lb). Apogee: 10 km (6 mi).

    Second attempted launch of Brazil's indigenous launcher.
