Meeting on space rendezvous at Langley

The consensus of the meeting was that the rendezvous technique would be essential in the foreseeable future and that experiments should be made to establish feasibility and develop the technique. There was as yet no funding for my rendezvous flight test program.

The meeting on space rendezvous was held at the Langley Research Center and attended by representatives from NASA Headquarters, Flight Research Center, Goddard Space Flight Center, Space Task Group, Langley Research Center, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Lewis Research Center, and Marshall Space Flight Center. Bernard Maggin of NASA Headquarters was chairman. Current NASA Center programs on rendezvous were reviewed and ideas were exchanged on future projects. Many of the studies in progress involved the concept of a space ferry rendezvousing with a station in cislunar space.
