1966 Jun 1 - Nation: USA. Launch Vehicle: Atlas. - Gemini Agena target vehicle 5005 completed preliminary testing. Flight: Gemini 10, Gemini 9.
Gemini Agena target vehicle 5005 completed preliminary testing at Hanger E, Eastern Test Range, and was moved to Merritt Island Launch Area for Plan X tests with spacecraft No. 10. Plan X tests had first been scheduled for May 23 but were rescheduled for June 2-3.
To avoid an impact on the schedule, the delay was absorbed by conducting several activities normally performed after Plan X: secondary propulsion system (SPS) modules fit check and alignment, SPS heatshield fit check, and booster adapter fit check. But the vehicle work plan was again rescheduled, and Plan X did not begin until June 7. Following the successful completion of Plan X on June 8, the vehicle was returned to Hanger E for systems verification tests, which began on June 9. Cause of rescheduling was the Gemini IX-A launch.
