Apollo LM Adapter Surface Station lunar shelter concept. The Apollo Service Module would act as a lunar crasher stage to brake the spacecraft into lunar orbit, then part of the way from lunar orbit to the surface. The LM descent stage would land the shelter on the lunar surface. The crew would arrive seperately in an Apollo LM Taxi sent by a second Saturn V launch.
