Arrow 2

Anti-ballistic missile. Year: 1995. Family: Jericho. Country: Israel.

Israeli theater missile defense weapon developed and manufactured using substantial American funding.

The Arrow weapon system was a ground-based, ballistic missile defense system designed to protect Israel against ballistic missiles. The Arrow system used a two-stage interceptor, called the Arrow II, to destroy an incoming target with a fragmentation warhead. Other system elements included a launch control center, a fire-control radar and a battle management center.

Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) was the prime contractor of the co-produced Arrow system, responsible for system integration and final interceptor assembly in Israel. Boeing was responsible for production of about 35 percent of the Arrow interceptor components at its Huntsville, Alabama facility.

The first co-produced Arrow II interceptor was delivered by IAI to the Israeli Ministry of Defense in the spring of 2005. The first flight test using a co-produced interceptor took place in 2006.

Boeing was responsible for the Section II electronics assembly (part of the kill vehicle), radome, the canister assembly that housed the interceptor, electrical subsystems and other lower level assemblies.
