Robbins Defense Area
Nike air defense area, consisting of several Nike missile batteries to defend urban, industrial, and military targets from Soviet bomber attacks.

Two above-ground Nike Hercules sites designated R-28 and R-88 were located in Jeffersonville and Byron, respectively. Manned by Regular Army units, these two batteries stood guard over Robins AFB from November 1960 until March 1966.

Headquarters facilities were located at Robins.
