Thiokol solid rocket engine. In Production. SARV Retro MK I was a small, high-performance motor designed for use as a retrograde rocket for an unmanned satellite vehicle.

AKA: 9.00-KS-755;SARV Retro MK I;TE-M-195. Status: In Production. Number: 46 . Thrust: 3.35 kN (754 lbf). Gross mass: 18 kg (39 lb). Unfuelled mass: 6.00 kg (13.20 lb). Specific impulse: 251 s. Burn time: 9.00 s. Diameter: 0.25 m (0.83 ft).

The design requirements resulted in an unusually short-length, large-diameter shape. This motor employs an internal-burning case-bonded grain with a star configuration. For all future deliveries, changes will be made to this design. Due to the unavailability of outdated materials, the main grain propellant will be changed from TP-G-3012 to TP-H-3340. Because of the higher flame temperature of the TP-H-3340 propellant, the molybdenum throat insert will be changed to G-90 graphite material. Total impulse 2,992 kgf-s. Propellant mass fraction 0.676.

Country: USA. Propellants: Solid. Agency: Thiokol. Bibliography: 410.
