Yuzhnoye rocket engine. Maneuvering vehicle axial maneuvering.

Thrust: 56.00 kN (12,589 lbf). Height: 1.08 m (3.54 ft). Diameter: 0.29 m (0.95 ft).

The RD-293 consisted of two interlinked motors. The main motor created thrust along the main axis using four thrust nozzles. The supplemental motor created thrust perpendicular to the main axis. Application was probably for homing vehicles or warhead dispensers. The main motor had a thrust of 5700 kgf, a maximum vacuum thrust impulse of 5000 kgf-sec, a period of operation from 1.1 to 1.6 seconds, and a mass of 200 kg. The supplemental motor had a maximum vacuum thrust impulse of 4000 kgf-sec, a period of operation from 0.13 seconds, and a mass of 67 kg.

Chambers: 2. Engine: 267 kg (588 lb).
