American engineer, instrumental in the development of the Early Bird and Syncom communications satellites. Committed suicide in 1966.

Donald D. Williams was instrumental in the development of the Early Bird and Syncom communications satellites. He was employed by the Hughes Aircraft Company and was named one of America's ten outstanding young men of 1965 by the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce. On 21 February 1966, Williams committed suicide.
